ZoneTempo is an iPhone running app that coaches you with short voice cues while your music keeps playing. It tracks live pace in minutes per kilometre and your heart-rate zone, and tells you the moment you drift out of your target, so you never have to look at your phone mid-run. Set it up once, and go.
Pick today's run from your plan, or set a band yourself: 5:45 to 6:15 per kilometre for an easy 6 km. Faster or slower, one tap at a time. That band is all your coach needs.
Their style, their humour, their voice. Hype, Calm or Drill, in English or Dutch. Pro runs get a natural voice like Jessica's; free runs use your iPhone's own.
Beatmatch plays continuous mixes at your exact cadence, so every step lands on the beat. It learns your cadence from your last runs, keeps the music's pitch while it matches your tempo, and the coach never talks over a drop: it counts you into it.
Drift out of your band and your coach tells you, over your music, the moment it happens. Heart rate comes in live from your broadcasting HR device, so zone changes get a word too. In band, it stays quiet.
How much you held in band and how it compares with your last run, every kilometre against its target, time in each heart-rate zone, your route, and a recap from your coach.
Tap Go and put your phone away. The beat keeps your stride, and your coach tells you what matters, in your ears. If you ever want a glance, your pace and heart rate are on the Lock Screen.
Set your pace, pick a coach and a mix at your cadence. Then run by ear: the music keeps you on pace and your coach tells you when you drift. Turn the sound on.

ZoneTempo is an iPhone app that coaches you during a run with short voice cues over your music. It tracks your live pace in minutes per kilometre and your heart-rate zone, and speaks up when you drift out of your target pace band or change heart-rate zone.
Yes. ZoneTempo reads live heart rate from your WHOOP strap through WHOOP's Heart Rate Broadcast setting, second by second, for zones and heart-rate cues. ZoneTempo is independent and not affiliated with WHOOP, Inc.
Yes. Your music keeps playing. When the coach speaks, iOS briefly lowers the music volume and raises it again afterwards. It works with the screen locked.
ZoneTempo combines GPS position with the iPhone's Doppler speed in a Kalman filter, rejects bad GPS fixes, and switches to step counting in tunnels. In simulations with realistic GPS noise, distance stays within 1% and live pace within about 2 seconds per kilometre after the first 20 seconds.
ZoneTempo calculates its own zones from your live heart rate; it doesn't copy the zones from the WHOOP app. You choose the method: percentage of max heart rate (50/60/70/80/90%), heart-rate reserve (the Karvonen formula, using your resting heart rate, which is how WHOOP calculates its zones), or custom bpm values from a lab or field test.
Yes, with Beatmatch. Instead of your own music, ZoneTempo plays continuous mixes at your exact cadence, so your steps land on the beat. It learns your cadence from your last runs or you set it yourself, keeps the music's pitch while matching your tempo, and the coach never talks over a drop. One starter mix is free; Pro unlocks the full library. A slightly higher cadence also lightens the load on your knees and hips.
No. In normal mode it announces kilometre splits, zone changes and when you leave your pace band. Quiet mode only speaks when you are more than 10 seconds per kilometre off target for 30 seconds, or when you reach zone 5. You can switch modes mid-run.
Yes. Set a target per run, build a plan day by day, or import one from CSV, ICS (calendar) or JSON. Runs can be open, by distance or by time, including intervals with timed recoveries. With Pro, the coach can also generate a plan to race day from a goal such as a 10K time.
Yes. Pace, heart-rate zones, all rule-based cues, quiet mode, plans and one starter Beatmatch mix are free, spoken by the iPhone voice. Pro adds a natural coach voice, lines written for your run, a spoken recap, AI training plans and the full Beatmatch library, for €9.99 a month or €71.99 a year. Your first 3 Pro runs are free, with no subscription needed.
No. GPS and heart-rate data stay on your iPhone, and there is no account or login. Pro coaching only receives the numbers it needs, such as pace, heart rate and distance, but never your location.
Not at the moment. ZoneTempo is built for iPhone (iOS 17 or later).
